A few things to keep in mind:

Most people don't travel for leisure, and if they do they take 1-2 trips a year.

Most employees of these companies don't travel for business

Most employees of these companies don't live on the west coast of the US (regardless of where HQ is) making AS essentially useless.

A lot of business travel is international, making AS essentially useless.

The majority of people who travel (including many frequent travelers) don't bother with frequent flyer programs. They just book whatever is cheapest.

When you add all this up, you get that while many people are eligible, it's irrelevant to almost all of them.
