I have booked BA tickets which include AA operated flights booked under the AA prime flight number many times. Usually those flights have been the domestic flights in the US, and the TATLs which connect to/from the AA flights have been BA operated and marketed flights.

I agree outside the JBA for TATL, BA will not sell you AA flights.
