Lightbulb Disability support person

My mother is disabled and needs someone to assist her with mobility (getting into/out of plane, seat, washroom etc).
We've completed the Air Canada medical forms, signed by her doctor. Will email to Air Canada as per their instructions.
According to the docs, she should book her seat and then call AC to arrange a seat for her support person free of charge.
I plan to use my Aeroplan points and book a premium or business class ticket for her. She will then call to arrange a seat for me.

Has anyone had experience doing this? Are their any caveats of which I should be aware. Thanks.
