Note to mods: I know this is resurrecting a very old thread, but it's an update. If you'd prefer I put this in a new thread, please let me know.

So, I haven't passed through IAH since 2016, which is a pretty long time. I finally did so a few days ago. A lot of good and a bit of bad. The bad: confusing and kind of messy with all the construction; C to E was changed and confusing for me, and signage wasn't the best. The good: Incredibly friendly UA employees. I was so glad to see the old CO spirit of friendliness still persisting at IAH. Say all you want about pmCO, but their IAH employees were always the friendliest in the system, IMHO.

I misconnected because of a mechanical, and the GA was very friendly and within minutes, rebooked me, put me up in the Sheraton, and provided meal vouchers. Amazing. For a similar delay/misconnect on Delta, surliness ruled the day at ATL, and it was a debacle getting my hotel and vouchers. Had to stand in a long line at their CS center to get the vouchers and be rebooked, maybe about 30 minutes. With UA, it was merely 5 minutes. I've always loved Delta, but lately I've been kind of eyeing United. They treated non-elite me incredibly well, despite numerous delays and changes.

The ring of CRT TVs in the oval hallway ceiling below the UA Club were mercifully removed; a black ring now encircles the area. Looks much better; those TVs were always turned off and seemed like such a waste.

This is where the ring of CRT TVs used to be.

I was glad to see a new "United" decal that replaced the huge ad that used to be in the space. This was a flashback to the old Continental Airlines decal. I could see a lot of United hometown pride.

The United decal at the end of Terminal E.

All in all, a huge improvement from the last time, and from when I posted in 2015. Construction was a mess, and the SkyWay train was mad crowded, but that wasn't UA's fault at all. I could tell employees were happy to be there and did what they could to help passengers. This trip led to a very good impression about United, and particularly IAH, to me.
