Man I liked this hotel. My first (and many subsequent) AMS visits, I stayed at the Pulitzer, which still holds a spot in my heart. This was my first time staying elsewhere, and I chose this property myself for a large weeklong meeting. While staying at Pulitzer, I wandered into the Andaz the first 2weeks it was open many many years ago and was really struck by the design concept, the layout. When a hotel is written up in an architectural magazine and other design publications, is something special. Is a very "W" funky high end property in possibly my favourite area to stay in AMS - walkable to everything, but in a less hustle/bustle area than being in the Dam or more Central. Great service, great F&B, upgrades as a Globalist.

Not the cheapest stay in AMS, but competitive with other 5stars there (Pulitzer, W, Sofitel, IC) while being much less expensive than the Waldorf, for example.
If the cost is within your budget, I don't know of a property I'd rather stay at in AMS.
Congrats on a nice stay KevinS.Good to hear
For many years I stayed at the Pulitzer in a love hate relationship,The hotel is old and historical.Back in the day 90s it had no AC.
One stay had rats/super mice (hello Mickey) running through the hallway
Unlike you I have no love for the Pulitzer I believe its living on its past reputation and those local newlyweds that love to be there based on its Iconic Dutch history.
I would never return there personally now that there a number of more polished modern hotels old and new .
Once upon a time it was the near the main game in town. You had little to no choice. It is also one of the most confusing layouts of any hotel I can remember
as long as I have been traveling.Even long time bellman got lost in it occasionally on my stays years ago

Stayed at the Sofitel Grand and the IC Amstel The Hilton, Swissotel and others all good except for the Hilton which had some issues.
The Andaz Amsterdam while small is still one of the best in the city IMO
The architect worked his magic and won most things considered. The decor won't be for everyone but its comfortable with all the creature comforts that matter
The color of the interior suite/guest room doors were so striking I flew back to get the color match and hired a company to match the same look & finish for my residence entry doors
Their food and beverage which is challenging in Amsterdam typically has been historically way above average at least on the breakfast side of the equation
And as you share not inexpensive by any means.Last I looked hovering around 500 plus dollars a night (sigh)
