Yes, that and Hampton LGW have the smallest rooms I know of in the chain. But this Croydon Hampton has one massive advantage, in that there is a footbridge mid platforms on East Croydon rail station, which leads you quite close to the door of this hotel. It's better than the main station exit. This means that if you are staying at the Hampton you can get to a variety of London rail stations very quickly (not always in much comfort!) as well as service to LGW and Brighton. You can get from this hotel to the check-in area at Gatwick in around 20 minutes or so. So if London hotel prices are sky high, ditto LGW, then this is a valid option. I wouldn't consider Croydon a rough area, a single female need not worry too much about using this place late at night, for example.
