Interestingly I didn't find any flight history on AA AA flight 4709 from RDU to JFK. Why is that I wonder?
Assuming your bags are checked thru, the time to get from one terminal to another via AirTran is about 15 minutes. Even with wheelchair, you should have no problems and will certainly be there in 30 minutes.
I had to return a car rental key back to the Car Rental place from terminal 4 (which is further than 8) and did the round trip in less than 30 minutes.
