After 12-month marker, offered 40K MR points for $4K spend as a "final offer" to retain the Consumer Platinum card. I hadn't put a great deal of spend on the card. I accepted, since this is worth at least $600 and I was planning significant airfare purchases anyway, worth an additional 20K points on $4K spend. For me, the hard cash benefits of the card are $200 to my United TravelBank and $100 in Uber rebates that I'm pretty certain to use. The $200 New York Times rebate is nice, but I think I could get free access through my local library. Plus the card's lounge benefits, of course, and 4 hours' rental car grace period on returns etc.
