Accor was late to the party on status extensions. If, there is a move from others to extend status for members, then Accor MAY do this. They wont be the first to blink.
There are probability more, non staying status members now than there has been over the long term ( and probably for other chains as well - but I don't have any data its a gut feeling ), and most chains would like to limit this growth as it costs money ( albeit not a lot for Accor - just the franchise holders )
