I was supposed to fly ORD-COU last year with my long-despised American Airlines, but they cancelled THAT day flight, and put me on another the following night.
no compensation (their excuse was "air traffic control"), nothing.

I Instead, I opted for the much less helpful ORD-STL the same day.

Getting vouchers is often amusing, eh? If I complained to AA about something they mucked up, why would I want a voucher from them? Send me an SQ or EK voucher instead
