About a year ago, I flew PVG-(ICN)-DFW-BOS on AA with a forced overnight connection. A hotel was not included in the ticket price, so I bought my own room and was happy with the arrangement. However, my flight ended up going to AUS instead of DFW, which entailed me taking a taxi (from DFW and it was only about a mile away, but still cost $35) to the hotel instead of the free shuttle, which stops running at midnight. They were offering rooms at the Hyatt, but the line was long (many delayed flights) so I didn't bother waiting. The next day, I emailed customer service to explain my frustration. I didn't make any specific compensation requests. They sent me a $150 voucher within an hour.
