Travel hacking and loyalty are not mutually exclusive. Everyone has different travel needs, some travel 10-20 nights a year while others travel 60+ a year. Just because you want to maximize your return, doesn't mean you aren't staying loyal to the brand that is providing the best return. I
f you are stay only a handful of nights, then it totally makes sense to pick and choose based on promo at the time. And frankly, hotel chains, including Hyatt, aren't loyal to those travels that don't qualify for higher tiers.
If you qualify for Gobalist, then of course you are loyal by sticking to the same brand, despite having to sometimes go out of your way, or stay at a subpar option when a better alternative exists, in order to maintain status. That's the definition of loyalty, in exchange for promised benefits.
