Prior to COVID and recent cancellations, when our flights , BA or AA have changed through no fault of our own, we always asked for the INVOL receipt at the time of rebooking at the airport. This only applies when the reroute happens under airport control. Or that's the only time we have

That will assist, should it be claimed that you chose the reroute.

Like I say though that was before COVID.
