The hilarious thing is that promos like that are what brought me to Hyatt. So much short sighted, myopic greedy thinking these days. I started with Hyatt during a FFN/United miles promo combo about 13 years ago and turned MULTIPLE 1 night HP stays into 2 weeks at a few PH plus like 50k United points....and it turned into 13 years of Diamond for Hyatt and currently ~580000 base points lifetime, so like $116,000 in spend without counting the taxes and such that don't earn points. Seems like Hyatt won that, but without those kinds of moves, and in today's short sighted narrow view of business, they would never have seen that. Man I miss the G bonus and the FFN (which were literally a thing like 1-2x a year for YEARS with Hyatt until they decided to murder the best thing they had). The endless consumer view that they somehow are the ones who should be grateful to the massive corporation for the smallest benevolence kills me...they could easily add back FFN and change nothing else and Hyatt would not go bankrupt, they would not run a loss, they would not have to shut the doors...but because consumers tolerate the endless and ever escalating level of greed and "program refreshes" with their endless anti consumer devaluations, it continues.
