I know there have been strikes at BOD but this far I can't remember if this date was one of them. One of the dispatch codes used for this area also doubles up when an airport (in this case LGW) tells airlines not to run services. But the key information really is whether easyJet's services were running at about the same time or not. However it's not really for you to prove this, it's for BA to prove their case. I personally don't think it's worth getting into a debate with BA on this, it's better to wait 8 weeks, or ask for a deadlock letter, and go to CEDR. At that point BA has to put up specific information on the strike, and sometimes BA pay when they realise they don't thave specific details.
Yes I found strikes later in the month but none on that particular day. I checked all Easyjet flights on same day and they run with no problem, one of them 30 minutes before mine, also the early BA flight run to schedule. I put in the claim for compensation under 261 for cancellation. Have asked BA for a more detailed explanation, if I do not receive an adequate reply I will escalate to CEDR. Will give them a chance to reply though.
