We are three middle aged adults heading for the Lofotens mid Aug. Our current itinerary has us landing in Tromso and driving from there, but looking at flying in to Bergen or Oslo (from USA) instead and then to EVE and renting a car. Thoughts on one way over the other? Whether driving in from Tromso or EVE, it would be a one way car rental flying out of Leknes or Svolvaer on the islands to our next destination.

We would have about 4 full days in the islands. Best ways to maximize that time and sights not to be missed? Does it make sense to rent a place in a central location (and what would be the best location for that) and do day trips from there or should we be spending each night in a different accomodation/location?
