That has to be the most ridiculous thing that I’ve read in a long time. Apart from the fact that it is potentially dangerous , he would probably have the police banging on the window to check on him and see whether he’d been drinking. Where do you propose that he do so? The M25? Reigate town centre? Clearly you have little knowledge of the area.

OP, We’re I you I’d do exactly as you have been advised. You do not mention whether it is this Sunday/Monday or later in the year nor from whence in Southern Europe you are coming. Your handle sounds Italian, but that means nothing. As it is late, going straight to bed is a good idea. You will need to make sure that you get to Heathrow with a reasonable margin. In this instance I’d get the bus as it is direct and no changes. For a hotel I’d go into the nearest to hand such as the Hilton. Do let us know how it all works out.
