I had an absolutely weird refund experience today withTAP. I called a number that was hooked to their website to get a refund on a tickets i had to cancel but not actually sure if it was on the site or not. I got a fellow who answered immediately (a bad sign considering the delays on their reservation line) and had all of my info. But then something crazy. He told me my completly refundable business class tickets had to be upgraded to a "club level" and I need to pay an extra $499 to upgrade the ticket. But then he said it could only be done on an Amex Gold card (I do not have that Amex Card) but I could go out a buy $499 Amex gift cards and he would stay on the phone while I went to purchase them.

Of course I did not do it and he hung up. But he had all my ticket numbers and passport info etc. Has anyone run into this situation before.
