Since this is tomorrow morning and the list is only 4 (with 3 seats), it will likely go to the gate but there is a risk that if 5th or 6th person is added to the list and the computer does a sweep to fill F (vs. leaving 1 F for the gate), the OP and companion will be skipped for #5 (if a solo traveler)
I read the referenced article above copying a portion here for reference:
"For example, there was a flight last week from ATL-ORD and there were 3 open FC seats T-24. Myself and the one companion were 1st and 2nd. I wake up the following morning and I see there is a single seat left and the names below between 3 to 5 had disappeared."

I see that, in this instance, they saw 2 seats in F being taken up along with names below on the upgrade list having disappeared. I don't believe this confirms that the "system" that does automatic upgrade sweeps is what led to this. I would think the most likely scenario is other flyers in the F-cabin of alternate flights SDC'ing to this flight. As to the people dropping from the list on the current flight, they could just as easily have moved to alternate flights as well by SDC/SDS within their assigned cabins.

I do believe that Delta's prescribed procedures may not always be necessarily followed by GAs. They could bypass a party of 2 in favor of a single person being lower in the priority list. We have all read various scenarios where GAs exercise personal discretion on how they process upgrades
