The benefits are tied to the primary credit card account holder's AA frequent flyer number.
AU's do not have their own AA FFN attached to their card. So a flight for the AU w/ AU's AA# would have no benefits bestowed because of the Citi card.
Benefits
are extended to others traveling
WITHthe primary CC account holder, on itineraries where the primary account holder is on the reservation with their AA FFN attached to the PNR.
I think the only thing the card bestows to AU's in relation to AA travel benefits is the Admirals Club access feature.
