This is probably a stupid question but I assume if you click the button to rebook, it doesn't actually cancel your original booking unless and until you find a better flight to switch to?! I have this message too for a flight from NUE-LHR but plans have changed and I'd rather take a flight earlier the same day; or ideally from MUC. I am guessing that rebooking to a nearby departure airport is a bit of a big ask, but it feels like clicking "rebook" and seeing if I can move to an earlier flight is a shot to nothing?
just looking for alternatives won't cause any problems. you would have to actually accept and then positively confirm your new flights before anything actually changes.
you won't be offered flights from nearby airports tho, and change of gateway isn't part of the policy.
