Refundable coach fare classes
I'm trying to book an unrestricted, fully refundable coach ticket, SFO --> DCA nonstop.
united.com is showing me only a single fare class available -- W.
I don't mind paying a little more for a higher class in hopes of improving upgrade eligibility, but it doesn't show them. If I search manually by fare class, it will give me an option for "Requested Fare Class" at a commensurately higher price. Looking at about $1298 for E.
But reading the rules on those fares, they appear to be nonrefundable with an "E" class, yet fully refundable at "W" despite "E" costing twice as much. I would have thought the higher class and double price would keep the refundability.
Or am I mistaken? Is W as good as I'm going to get for a refundable coach ticket?
Y is well beyond the budget for this particular client.
