It was stupid then and it's stupid now. Hyatt is spending money to create negative goodwill.
Hyatt should either drop out entirely or offer 100x the packages at 1.5 to 1.6 cents per point. That would be fairer to both Hyatt and its customers.
I don’t know what that “negative goodwill” amounts to for Hyatt, but it may not amount to much. Despite how difficult it has been to get Hyatt packages, who has been ditching Hyatt just because they missed out on snagging Hyatt DG packages? I suspect that those most annoyed by the difficulty of getting Hyatt DG packages get on or stay on the Chase UR and Hyatt bank card game to play on the Hyatt hamster wheel. Maybe the big commercial bloggers even prefer this “negative goodwill” situation, as it is an opportunity to peddle Chase bank cards and that generates the “positive goodwill” that Hyatt finds most beneficial?
