Thanks very much for this. Can I ask how I can guide a United agent through this so they can see it and book it?
I've just called United twice. The first agent was adamant that the reason I can't book the flight is because it isn't operating and Lufthansa hasn't withdrawn the flight from sale yet - obviously incorrect. The second guy was much better. I told him "my friend is a travel agent and told me if you search for UA 8904 it should price at $610". But he tried two different systems and couldn't get it to work with both UA and LH flight numbers.

LH630 has W space standing alone, which is what OP's multi-city search sees.
