With checked luggage yes, it will likely be an issue. Without checked baggage it will work fine. People travel on separate tickets on separate airlines with no issues. As long as they don't try have checked luggage across alliances or across non partner airlines.
Thank you! I Google that JAL and ANA is located in different terminals. I haven't been to HND before. Do you know change terminal in HND would be an issue or not?
