The primary difference for me is that the applied filters on the Hyatt site don't distinguish between different categories. On my road trip, I want to see all upcoming Cat 1, Cat 2 and Cat 3s, but also to be able to tell the difference between them. The primary added value for me is the google maps nav integration - This way, I don't have to pull over, I can decide where my next stop/stay will be by looking along my route and selecting by color.
As for the labor involved, it doesn't actually take that long to make this. I think it was about 2-3 hours total, and I would intend to update it annually.
2-3 hours is incredible for such a useful tool! I remember about 10 years ago or longer, there was something similar, but it just showed where the hotels were. It does not show its cat levels or any other details. This is so much better. Is there one for other hotel chains? I am LT Tit/Plt Marriott so something like it would be great to have.
