Agree, there is nothing much different to the hyatt map, and maintaining this version and keeping it up to date can be tremendous. but maybe it's a hobby of the OP. I have such similar and useless hobbies, too
The primary difference for me is that the applied filters on the Hyatt site don't distinguish between different categories. On my road trip, I want to see all upcoming Cat 1, Cat 2 and Cat 3s, but also to be able to tell the difference between them. The primary added value for me is the google maps nav integration - This way, I don't have to pull over, I can decide where my next stop/stay will be by looking along my route and selecting by color.
As for the labor involved, it doesn't actually take that long to make this. I think it was about 2-3 hours total, and I would intend to update it annually.
