I used to work in restaurants so I am sensitive to this, and I don't like the risk that writing "please include the standard tip/Globalist" will result in zero tip. (The server might have no idea that they are supposed to receive an included tip -- and the property that doesn't have a standard % gratuity might argue that even if they are required to cover a tip that is left, there isn't a default minimum gratuity if one isn't left -- so the server gets $0.) I leave something modest like 18%, so that the front desk doesn't have a reason to deny wiping it off based on my tip amount being too large, and then I usually leave another few bucks in cash. I haven't had any trouble since I started doing it that way (I had some pushback from a front desk that I recall when I left a rounded-up 20%).
Yep I ended up sending Hyatt a message on facebook regarding both the breakfast gratuity and the parking fees which were not removed at checkout. They said the case was being sent to the accounting team at the hotel and I should hear back in a day or two. Received a phone call from a Birmingham number two days later (did not answer it and did not receive a voicemail) but I did see that my folio had been updated with a special note saying essentially that it was an award stay and the guest should not have been charged. So it worked out I guess. This is the third time I've had an issue since becoming globalist last fall and the third time that facebook support has come through for me (saving me from ever having to deal with anyone at checkout) Grateful for that and I understand it may not be everyone's experience every time.

Well I personally would rather pay the full gratuity than the server not receive anything, if that is indeed what would happen. Yes it would be great if they fight it out with their employer and get the hotel to change it's policy, but until that happens I'll foot the bill to get the servers their fair share. If they're lying and double-dipping then that sucks, but unless I can tell and know for sure, again, I'll err on the side of helping out the servers.
