Not true, in my experience. For future reservations, simply contact the hotel after your company's travel agent has made the reservation and have them add your MR number to the res. Then, upon check-in, present your MR card and ask the desk clerk to ensure that your MR number is on the res. You should then receive points and nights credit. But always keep your copies of the bills, just in case

FWIW, I think the desk clerk is misinformed. I'd speak directly with the manager to clarify things. You're well on your way to Platinum, so I'd think they could be more accomodating with you. What do they care who is ultimately paying the bill?
