Not much in it to be honest. It also depends which tourist attractions you are specifically interested in, but with either you’ll be walking/using public transport a bit.

IME Southwark has more dining options. A 10 min walk from the HIX gets you to Bala Baya (awesome Israeli/ME fusion), Anchor & Hope (quintessential gastropub), Berenjak (Borough mkt, Persian) and a host of other options.
