On many many occasions with United flyng from Washngton to Austin we have left on time so we can then wait at a remote part of the field for the weather to clear.

I always thought this was to enable to keep a good score on the on-time departures record. You can't get enough of sitting in a hot tin can waiting for the thunderstorm to go by...........
