I had a similar issue. Had a TLV-LHR morning flight, lands at 10:30 and 2pm flight LHR-JFK. Morning flight was cancelled (2 months in advance) and only other flight was evening which landed after all the NY flights had left. So I was going to be stuck in London for a night until the next morning flight. Asked BA for a hotel in advance over the phone, they flat out said no and I didn't really push. I live in London so not a huge issue. Only reason I wanted a hotel is cos I didn't feel like taking a taxi an hour each way for a total of £200 and leaving my house at 5am. But that's what happened
