Just to re-emphasize what others have posted - read the recent reviews carefully. Throw most of the pre-2020 reviews in the trash can. In the last year, I've stayed at Best Western Plus properties that were spotless and LXR properties that were barely passable for the price. It's all about the franchisee. Brand loyalty is a thing of the past - status is barely worth anything, particularly at Hilton. It's really only worth anything at Hyatt, and even there, you have to be super loyal to either their properties and/or credit card to qualify.

Pick the best hotel that meets your needs for a given stay, whether it be Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Marriott, an independent property, or a vacation rental. Who cares if you're a diamond guest or a nobody.
