My first ever flight was also overseas: LHR to Linate, 28th May 1972, BEA Trident 2, economy, in a rear facing seat.
I remember that currency controls were in place at the time (the country was in a mess) and the purchase of £40 worth of Italian Lira had to be recorded in my passport.
