BEA Airtours KT912 in a Comet 4B, 10th May 1973 LGW to CFU

It's the little things you remember that are evocative. There were plastic coffee cups with little hook handles that were quite tricky to lift up. A sort of potato salad with tinned peas in. Looking at the ground as it dropped away the first time. The sheer noise of a Comet 4B even when idling on the stand, and the clank of the metal stairs boarding it. Everyone dressed up, getting excited about seeing the clouds turn into the Alps. Oh, and the collective click of lighters and matches as the "no smoking" sign turned off.
