The agent couldn't do a fast bag check in for me so I checked it in normally. My flight was QF coded and it recognised my QF status but obviously not my NZ status. QF Platinum status accorded me no seating priority but did get me into the lounge, though the agent in the regional lounge wouldn't accept my Air NZ Elite status because I was on a QF flight.
It is an utterly bewildering aspect of Air New Zealand's culture that so many of its frontline staff are either encouraged to or take it upon themselves to be as difficult as possible to elite frequent flyers.
