I discovered last night that I couldn't fast bag my carry-on after arriving on QF metal onto QF-coded NZ flight.
The agent couldn't do a fast bag check in for me so I checked it in normally. My flight was QF coded and it recognised my QF status but obviously not my NZ status. QF Platinum status accorded me no seating priority but did get me into the lounge, though the agent in the regional lounge wouldn't accept my Air NZ Elite status because I was on a QF flight.
I would be earning QF miles and status points on my regional flight on NZ, too.
It's a messy tie up and is probably more an attempt to stiff VA back then rather than truly benefit the Tasman travelling public. My fare was eye-watering and pretty drab, but that seems to be the fashion these days. Five QF 737 flights in three days and all late, packed and a zoo at the airport.
