I agree, 1K desk is better. However when I travel abroad and not for work, I typically use a data only sim with no ability to call. Well I could use skype, but I was having issues with it.
Even with the 1k line, I still get push back or they'll say "I'm not supposed to do this, just this one time
A recent experience had the UC agent refusing to protect me - 'not allowed anymore'. I asked if this included GS, to which I got an irritated 'It's not allowed anymore'.
Figured I'd call the GS desk instead, but before I'd sat down and called I received a text message to say I'd been protected. YMMV but there's more than one way to try (in person, online-chat, call, etc.)
