It is good to see them finally priced lower than other HH properties. It wasn't like that at first; often times they were actually more expensive than HI/HGI.
I've only stayed at one, but this is spot on. I stayed at a relatively new Tru property that was less than a year old, however the room I was in had seen better days. It seems like Tru focuses on using wall fixtures for hangers, etc with minimal furniture. However, even only being a year old property (and staying in Spring of 2020 when things locked down), many of these wall fixtures were broken to the point of being unusable.
In my experience, a Tru is usually lower only by a $10/night difference, and more often $5/night between a closer HI. Would I stay there again? Of course, if it was a one night stay. Anything more than that and I'm willing to spend the few extra dollars on a HI/HGI. That's not even considering the differential in point earning, purely hotel quality.
