It all depends on the market too. I was in Prince Edward Island last week, and the Quality Inns have a going rate of CAD200++, so 20000 points was a bargain.

I’ve used Choice Points around PEI in the peak tourism season because it looked like a good return on the points. But at least one of Choice properties I used there was very outdated. The QI in Charlottetown was good for upgrading me on my redemption nights.

I quite typically manage to get at least $12.50 of value out of every thousand Choice points redeemed by picking my redemption spots.
