From AA's standpoint, they are already giving up their gravy charges for checked bags by allowing pax to gate check for free. People already figure they can "beat the system" by dragging the overstuffed duffle bag through security and gate checking it for free. How much more is the airline gonna do to accommodate/encourage this leakage of revenue?
