My child has their own account. Likely let them accrue. I don't use miles except for international redemptions. They don't have a program with OAs because we fly Delta exclusively. They don't have status yet but hope to get silver next year - will need longer flights to do so. Too young to fly alone so no point in giving MQMs from DL reserve at this point. Also, no point in status when flying with a Diamond.
