Thanks for the review, EcotoneHR. Everything except your room looks terrific!

Do you have a picture showing the whole room? You say it was small -- and it certainly doesn't look large -- but you also say there was only a bed, desk and chair whereas one of your pictures shows a second chair and a side table. I'm not saying that would make it wonderful, but it would be good to have the full picture.

On the hotel website it looks as though at least some of their "Embassy" rooms are open plan, with no real separation between bed and bath. Is that what you had?

Your welcome obviously wasn't great and first impressions count. But the property certainly made an effort with their welcome gift, so perhaps this was just one person at reception not being up to par?

PS: On occasions when I check in to a hotel and reach my room before realising I don't know anything about breakfast, WLAN or hotel facilities, which is especially likely to happen after a long journey, I'll ask next time I'm passing reception. I say that I forgot to ask, they apologise for forgetting to tell me and with a bit of luck we're on a friendly footing.
