OK, I'm now in Melbourne QP having checked in. I had two separate bookings for my journey journey today so I checked a bag all the way thru, simply to ensure QANTAS know I'm coming should 454 be late. (in bound zxc already estimated 15 mins arrival delay)

Anyway there are 3 premium queues as QF WP described however changes are being made. There are the 2 counters for Quick Check & 2 for Business. There are 4 for QANTAS CLUB, However I think two of these are new. They have been added to the left of the other two existing QC checkins but these do no have luggage conveyers yet. At the moment, luggage of people using one these new counters is collected and carried over to one of the exisiting conveyers.

Now to the Queues. Last time I checked in here they had images of the status cards that could use the queues. The J queue had WP & SC cards, the QC queue had PS & QP cards.

Now there are new signs for the QANTAS CLUB queue, the writing indicating they should be used by all "Platinum, Gold, Silver & Qantas Club" and "OneWorld Emerald, Sapphire & Ruby". The Business queue indicates "Business Class" only with no mention of Gems.

As I indicated in an earlier post here, both queues were normally very crowded. It looks like management here have done something about it. i.e. remove the premium Gems from the business queue, put them in with the the pleb Gems etc. and add more counters to compensate.

As I had upgraded (to 1C) on 550 I could have used the Business class counter. But there were a few there waiting and the QP one was empty so I used one of the new counters. (My bag still has the Pink tag )
