Right after graduating college, a friend of mine got a job where he flew pretty regularly -- to the tune of about three r/t per month or so. He naturally earned status with DL (the only airline flying MLB!). I would always give him a hard time when he would "whine" that his upgrade didn't come through -- or worse, when he'd get upgraded TO ATL but not from ATL-MLB (a flight of about an hour or so).
Now, I do the same complaining -- and I still travel much less frequently than he does. His latest routing is MCO-DEL, and I was surprised to learn that his company would pay for him to fly in business class. Seriously. Now, I understand the value of him getting to his destination after a reasonably comfortable 23-odd hours of flying. Now, I just want his bank of miles!
