The hotel should be fine, along with food, drink, wifi charges. The car parking is normally regarded as consequential, and so one for travel insurance, but put a claim in anyway for that. Ditto the car hire but that needs to be seen in the context of whether it was necessary (in terms of getting from hotel to airport) as opposed to useful to you. So in other words a taxi of up to £50 is usually allowed specifically for that trip, but maybe car hire would have been cheaper? In general terms BA expects people to use public transport, given that BA is also public transport.

For EC261 we still don't know whether it was BA cancelling this due to their workforce pressures, or HAL due to their pressures. If it was definitely BA then I would expect EC261 to be paid by BA. If they blame HAL then that's not the end of the matter in my view but it may require using MCOL rather than CEDR.
