Lounge access has always been a privilege depending on the benifcence of individual hotel managers - and the extent to which they had the confidence to buck the rules of IHG. For years even RAs had to
negotiate lounge access at most ICs, and that situation continues with those lesser brands equipped with lounges.
Now that the IHG has at last smartened up its lacklustre loyalty programme and strong-armed its hotels into giving meaningful benefits (breakfasts, lounge passes etc), you might expect something of a realignment of the rules around lounge access adopted by those Holiday Inns and Crowne Plazas that hosted such facilities.
