It was politically incorrect but we used to refer to the 757s as slave ships. Sad to say I think the 737-MAX8/9 are worse. I'd much prefer the old 767s but few and far between for the 5-hour flights.

What are the options from West Coast?

WN - definitely not, no E+.
AS - just as bad in F and no better in E+/E-
AA, DL - nice if you can snag a wide body?

No way I would pay $800 to buy up one-way on a 5-hour daytime flight (even for lie-flat), but everyone has a price.
