Looking at the A availability on expert flyer, it changes sometimes on who is selling the ticket for exactly the same flight. The AA ticketed and operated transcon flights are pretty much always F7A0, but the BA ticketed (AA operated - ie exactly the same flight) can often be F7A5.
You need it all to be a 125 ticket and to find A on the AA flight number. It's easier if your BA ticket has the AA segments booked as native AA flight numbers and not the BA codeshare. This is my experience.
