Just got back from a big family trip at this resort (our fourth time - we go with family when home from the US) and had a fantastic stay. We’ve always really enjoyed the hotel, but a few things have changed which overall worked out really well. A couple of highlights:
-Platinums get 20% off F&B charges, along with free unlimited espresso/tea/soft drinks etc
(a bunch of locations in the main building in which to get a quick espresso drink now too)
-kids eat free can be impactful here given the buffet charges
-status gives free daily ice block for kids
-immediate status recognition - one of our rooms was upgraded a couple of levels (unfortunately not to ocean view, but we also didn’t ask because one of our reservations was a villa with an ocean view)
-nice welcome gift in the room for ambassador status (fruit/champagne/chocolate/gm welcome)
-great quality staff - always recognizing our family and saying hi, very welcoming etc
We had a long gap in stays because of COVID, but a couple of changes in the hotel generally which were really welcome include opening a mostly free games/arcade area for kids (good for rare rainy days) and making an ‘annex’ of the restaurant called The Deck available for drop in a la carte ordering during the day.
We continue to find this a great location also - walk to sea world, direct beach access, simple supplies in the small mall across the street, super fresh seafood at Peter’s with few mins walk, and true resort feel, but less of the ‘stack of buildings’ feel of the more dense GC hotels.
